Here, we’ll guide you step by step through the process of safely and professionally applying the smart chip to the finger nail.
You’ll learn what to focus on at each stage to ensure the final result looks great and functions flawlessly.
Preparation
Before applying the Smart Chip, we have to prepare the nail surface.
You will need:
Shortener File
SC Bonder
SC Builder Low
SC Pyramid
Pads
Acetone
UV lamp
Step 1
Prepare the nail
Matt the surface of the nail lightly using the shortener file.
If necessary, file the nail into shape using the same file.
Step 2
Remove the filing dust
Clean the nail and remove all filing dust using acetone.
Step 3
Primer (optional)
If necessary, apply primer.
Step 4
First Bonder
Apply a thin layer of First Bonder over the whole nail.
The bonder creates a surface on the nail that provides good adhesion for the builder.
Step 5
Air dry
Let the bonder air dry for approx. 60 seconds.
Use this time to talk to the customers about your other services.
Step 6
Builder Low
Apply Builder Low (low viscosity) over the whole nail. This gel layer prevents direct contact between the Smart Chip and the natural nail, which could lead to fungal infections.
Step 7
Curing
Cure the builder for approx. 60 seconds under UV light.
Step 8
Remove the inhibition layer
Remove the inhibition layer using aceton.
We use aceton instead of cleaner because it degreases the nail, which is very important for the Smart Chip to adhere properly.
Step 9
SC Pyramid
Place the customer’s finger on the SC Pyramid. The pyramid places the finger at the perfect height and position for the next steps.
Applying the Smart Chip
Now that the nail surface is prepared, we are ready to apply the Smart Chip.
You will need:
SC Stripe
SC Pyramid
Step 1
Prepare the Stripe
The Smart Chip comes on an adhesive tape. We call this the “Stripe“.
Peel the backing paper off the stripe.
Step 2
Positioning
Position the Smart Chip correctly over the nail:
- Center the Smart Chip vertically on the nail
- Align the stripe with the back edge of the nail
- The Smart Chip should be positioned about 3 mm from the cuticle line
Step 3
Pull the Stripe down
Hold the stripe on both ends and pull it firmly down for 5 to 10 seconds.
This gives the adhesive time to bond with the gel.
Removing the Stripe
The correct removal of the stripe is very important to ensure that the Smart Chip adheres properly and doesn’t lift.
Step 1
Grab the stripe on one end …
Step 2
… fold it diagonally over the nail …
Step 3
… and slowly pull it sideways and down.
Building
Now that the Smart Chip is on the nail, we need to make sure that it stays there.
You will need:
SC Builder High
SC Finish
Sealer file
Cleaner
Pads
UV lamp
Step 1
Builder High
Apply the Builder High (high viscosity) over the entire nail and Smart Chip, ensuring the Smart Chip is fully covered. This “glues” it to the nail.
Speed is more important than perfection at this stage – any imperfections can be corrected afterward.
Step 2
Curing the builder
Cure the Builder High for approx. 60 seconds under UV light.
Remove the inhibition layer with cleaner afterwards.
Step 3
Finish
You can now correct any imperfections using SC Finish. Aim for a smooth surface and good adhesion.
Cure under UV light for approx. 60 seconds and remove the inhibition layer with cleaner.
Step 4
Seal the nail edge
As the last step, seal the nail edge using the sealer file.
If necessary, correct the side lines with the shortener file first.
Finished!
Done! The application of the Smart Chip is complete.
You can now apply color, cuticle oil or hand lotion according to the customer’s wishes.
